CHURCH HISTORY

In 1979, under the leadership of Rev. Barney Brumbeloe, the church board voted to purchase property on Honeysuckle Road with plans to relocate the church.

The property was sold to the Salvation Army in 1980 under the pastoral leadership of Rev. John Powell.  A home located at 106 Daniel Court was purchased as a parsonage.  The last service in the Bell Street property was in February 1982.

Pastor John Powell led the congregation in the construction of the new 11,000 sq. ft. building located at 1101 Honeysuckle Road.  The sanctuary and overflow area seats between 400-450 persons.  The educational wing contains 16 classrooms, nursery, offices and children’s church area.  The building was constructed for $280,000.

In 1998, under the leadership of Rev. John Branham, the family life center was constructed which includes a gym area, classrooms and kitchen.  The building was constructed for $350,000 and was paid for in less than 4 years.

In 1999, under the leadership of Rev. Mark Berry, a stewardship plan called, “Project Vision” was conducted raising more than $130,000.  Upgrading of the building and property became a priority installing new lighting, repaving the parking lot, purchasing a new sign and various other projects became part of the vision.

Our vision is bold, our faith is strong, and our determination is sure.
