The Church of the Nazarene is a Protestant Christian church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, tracing its roots to an anniversary date of 1908. It was founded to spread the message of scriptural holiness (Christlike living) across the lands. Today the Church of the Nazarene is located in 155 world areas.

The Church of the Nazarene is a Great Commission church. We believe that God offers to everyone forgiveness, peace, joy, purpose, love, meaning in life, and the promise of heaven when life is over by entering and experiencing a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We are called to take this message to people everywhere.

The Church of the Nazarene is also a holiness church. We believe that Christians can experience a deeper level of life in which there is victory over sin, power to witness and serve, and a richer fellowship with God, all through the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

Through the links above, you can learn more about the history, purpose, basic beliefs, Articles of Faith, and core values of the Church of the Nazarene.

Each local congregation of the Church of the Nazarene is a faith community ready to greet you in Jesus' name. There you will discover opportunities not only to encounter Jesus as your Savior and Lord but also to grow as a follower of Christ. Dothan First Church of the Nazarene offers worship, opportunities for serving others, fellowship, and training. We invite you to experience the unique fellowship of Dothan First Church of the Nazarene.

What should I expect at the morning service?
Every Sunday, approximately 150 people gather for music, Scripture reading and a message from the Bible intended to bring about transformation in our lives.  We are, in effect, preparing ourselves to make Christlike Diciples in the world.

Our Welcome Center will direct first time visitors to out Hospitality room where you will be given informational packets and a gift to enable you to learn more about The Nazarene Church.

What should I wear?
We come to church to worship God, so modest dress is appropriate. However, all styles are welcome, and you’ll see people wearing anything from jeans to suits.

What should I expect at the evening service?
Our Sunday Evening Gathering tends to be more casual than our Sunday morning service. The service, which lasts about an hour, is filled with music, prayer and Bible teaching, and is followed by a time for refreshments and the opportunity to get to know others.

What should I do when the offering plate is passed?
The offering is intended for our members and regular attenders.  As our guest, you are under no obligation to give to the church, so feel free to let the plate pass by. However, we would love to have you fill out one of the Connection Cards located in the bulletin; simply place the completed card in the offering plate.

Our normal practice is to serve communion a minimum of once each quarter. We welcome all who profess the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior to receive communion—you do not need to be a member of The Nazarene Church to participate.

Every Sunday morning, we meet in the "Prayer Room" located in the Southern most overflow room on the west side of the Sanctuary. There you will find a Prayer Partner to assist you with spiritual needs or to help you get connected with church groups and ministries.

How do I get connected with other members of the church?
We at Dothan First Church recognize that our spiritual journey is done as a community and involves every stage of life. We strive to create a culture of connectivity and spiritual growth through our various classes and small groups.  Our hope is that all who attend will feel like they belong, that they are valued and appreciated, and will form genuine friendships through the opportunities for fellowship, worship, prayer, encouragement, and support. Stop by the Welcome Center in the main lobby for more information.
